School Year Curriculum
Abigail Adams Preschool is a Reggio-inspired year-round program based in Quincy Center’s Historical District. Our schedule is flexible, offering extended day options in addition to our full day program. Abigail Adams Preschool features spacious and bright classrooms, an enclosed outdoor playground, as well as the Map Room, our indoor recreation room. Our school follows the Quincy Public Schools academic calendar and has uses an emergent curriculum using core on the “Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences” as developed by the Massachusetts Dept. of Early Education and Care.
Abigail Adams Preschool education is based on a profound respect for children and a deep understanding of child development in all areas: emotional, physical, academic, and social. Our students develop skills in all areas of the curriculum over a three-year cycle in multi-age classrooms. In doing so, they work independently, in small groups and one-on-one with a teacher. Students proceed at their own pace with the support of staff and classmates. In addition to a strong play based and experiential program, we also offer an ongoing yoga program and instruction in Spanish.
Abigail Adams Preschool designs it’s curriculum and learning materials to meet the emerging cognitive needs and interest of each age group. Consistent with the ‘Reggio’ vision of the child as a competent learner, Abigail Adams Preschool has produced a strong child-directed curriculum model. The curriculum has purposive progression through project learning. Our approach has a strong belief that children learn through interaction with others, including parents, staff and peers in a friendly learning environment.
Summer Experience Program
Abigail Adams Preschool’s Summer Experience Program takes place during July and August. Students age 2 years 9 months through 6 years old imagine and explore innovative ideas, create projects, discover new talents, and make friends. Hours and tuition rates follow the same schedule as our school-year program.
Vacation Classes
Abigail Adams Preschool offers vacation programs for currently enrolled students, pending enrollment, during February and April school vacation. Tuition is additional.
